Smart Chicken® Organic Farms
This particular farm is dedicated to raising organic, free-range flocks. Our organic farms are certified 100%, organic by the USDA through the state of Iowa’s Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship. Our organic flock barn dimensions are 510′ x 43′, and each barn houses approximately 25,000 birds. Our state-of-the-art farms use a technology called tunnel ventilation, which controls air flow much more effectively and provides a consistent supply of fresh air. The organic birds are given access to the outdoors to forage and feed in a free-range environment.

Tecumseh, NE is home to Smart Chicken®’s Processing Facility, which kills, eviscerates, and chills approximately 275,000 birds weekly. This facility was previously a kill and cook facility for Campbell’s Soup and at one time, housed the entire Smart Chicken operation-from processing to distribution. Today, the Tecumseh plant is where the first two important processes occur: controlled atmosphere stunning (CAS) and the air-chill process.
